Notion
Notion for Education gives eligible college and university students and teachers free access to an Education Plan for organizing coursework, research, notes, projects, and personal work.
For Frontend Mentor or other development projects, Notion can be useful for keeping project notes, planning tasks, collecting references, documenting what you learn, and tracking your progress across multiple challenges.
Your institution must be accredited and listed in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). K–12 students and teachers, including high school students, are not eligible for this education offer.
How to Apply
Use your school email as your Notion account’s main address.
In the desktop or web app:
- Open Settings.
- Go to the plan or upgrade section.
- Select the Education Plan and follow the verification steps.
Your workspace must be on the Free plan and contain only one member before you upgrade.
Notion does not accept student IDs or enrollment documents for this verification. If your institution meets the requirements but its email domain is not recognized, contact Notion support.
The GitHub Student Developer Pack may also include additional Notion benefits. Check its current redemption requirements separately; do not assume it removes Notion’s school email or institution requirements.
Things to Know
Verify Your Status Regularly
You may need to reverify your eligibility with your school email from time to time. As long as you continue to meet the requirements, you can remain on the Education Plan.
Keep Your School Email Active
Your school email must remain the main email address on your Notion account.
If you can no longer verify it, your workspace moves to the Free plan while retaining your existing content.
Understand the Collaboration Limits
The individual Education Plan supports a single workspace member, but you can still invite guests to selected pages.
Approved student organizations have a separate Education Plan designed for workspaces with multiple members.
Check AI Access Separately
The free Education Plan does not guarantee ongoing access to all paid Notion AI features.
Limited AI usage, trials, or promotional benefits may be available separately, so check your account and the current plan details for what is included.
What You Get
The free Education Plan for individual students and teachers includes:
- Unlimited pages and blocks: Create notes, documents, databases, and other content without a general page or block limit.
- Larger file uploads: Upload larger files than on the standard Free plan.
- Extended page history: View and restore previous versions of your pages beyond the basic Free plan history.
- Guest collaboration: Invite other people to collaborate on selected pages without adding them as workspace members.
- Additional site customization: Access more options for customizing pages you publish with Notion. Some publishing features, such as custom domains, may require a separate paid option.
