Figma
Figma for Education gives eligible students and educators free access to Figma’s design and collaboration tools through Education teams.
If you build Frontend Mentor solutions, this is one of the most useful student offers in this series. Dev Mode lets you inspect measurements, spacing, colors, typography, component properties, assets, and code snippets from design files, making it easier to translate a design into code accurately.
If you’re not eligible for Figma for Education, you can still use Figma’s free Starter plan for personal projects and to work with Figma design files. The Starter plan has more limited features, and Dev Mode is not included.
How to Apply
The application process depends on your educational setting.
- Higher education: Apply through Figma using your institution-issued email address and complete SheerID verification. Once verified, you can create an Education team or upgrade an eligible team to the Education plan.
- High school: Apply using your school-issued email address and follow Figma’s application process for high school students. School-managed access may follow a different process.
- Bootcamps and online courses: Your program must meet Figma’s eligibility requirements and be an approved partner. Students are verified through their program administrator rather than applying individually.
Figma for Education is intended for structured education with a teacher, mentor, or instructor. Self-directed learning on its own does not qualify.
Things to Know
Check what your Education plan includes
Education access differs depending on the type of institution. Higher education, high school, K–12, and approved bootcamp users may receive different plans, features, and access periods.
Review the current Figma for Education requirements before applying.
Keep your verified email address in mind
Your education status is associated with your verified educational account and institution. If you need to change the email address connected to your Figma account, check Figma’s current Education requirements first so you don’t accidentally affect your education access.
Education access may need to be renewed
Student Education access is granted for a limited period. If you’re still eligible when it expires, you may need to verify your status again.
Education features apply through your team
After verification, make sure you’re working in an Education team when you want to use the features provided by the Education plan. Simply having verified education status does not mean every team you belong to uses the Education plan.
