JetBrains
JetBrains Student Pack gives eligible students free access to JetBrains developer tools for learning and academic work.
If you’re working on Frontend Mentor challenges or other development projects, JetBrains IDEs can make everyday tasks easier with features like code completion, refactoring, debugging, built-in Git tools, and project navigation. For frontend work, WebStorm is the most relevant option.
WebStorm is also available free for non-commercial use without student verification; see the section below for details.
JetBrains offers eligible students and teachers at accredited high schools, colleges, and universities free access to its professional developer tools. Students must be enrolled in an accredited educational program requiring at least one year of full-time study.
Open university and distance-learning students may not qualify. Check with JetBrains support whether your program and enrollment status meet the eligibility requirements before applying.
How to Apply
Apply through the JetBrains Student Pack using one of the supported verification methods:
- an email address issued by your educational institution
- the GitHub Student Developer Pack
- a valid ISIC or ITIC card
JetBrains no longer accepts official school documents as a standard application method for student licenses.
If your student email is not recognized, the GitHub Student Developer Pack or an ISIC/ITIC card may provide an alternative, subject to their own eligibility requirements.
Things to Know
Renew While You Remain Eligible
The educational license lasts one year and can be renewed while you continue to meet the eligibility requirements. Use the renewal link in your JetBrains Account or the reminder email rather than submitting a new application.
Keep Your Account Accessible
Where possible, use a personal email for your JetBrains Account and your student email for verification. Review your account settings before losing access to your student email, and contact JetBrains support if you need help.
Check Permitted Use
The educational license is intended for learning, teaching, and academic research. You need an appropriate commercial license for paid work or commercial projects.
You May Not Need a Student License
WebStorm, Rider, CLion, RubyMine, RustRover, and DataGrip are available free for non-commercial use without student verification. This can include learning, self-education, hobby projects, open-source development without commercial benefit, and other eligible non-commercial work.
If you only need one of these tools, the free non-commercial license may be simpler than applying for the Student Pack.
Check AI and Plugin Access Separately
JetBrains may include AI-related benefits or trials with student offers, but AI plans, usage limits, and separately sold plugins can have their own terms. Check the current Student Pack benefits before relying on them.
